Work around Ferry Lagoon

Dear All,

This is just a short note to let you know that contractors will be starting work on the consented works at Ferry Lagoon, tomorrow. These works will create new areas of reedbed, important for bitterns, warblers and buntings, and scrapes for waders, where they will be able to forage for food during the breeding season. The works will also create a new ditch and include some post and rail fencing.

The contractors brought some of their machines onto site today (Wednesday 14th May), using the correct entrance off Swavesey Road, and will bring the rest tomorrow.

The works should take 4 - 6 weeks.

I have searched the area thoroughly and marked off areas where birds are nesting. These areas will be avoided by the contractors, so no nesting birds will be affected by the works.

If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Warmest regards,
Andy Cotton
