This site
for the village of Swavesey was started at the beginning of 2004. It is a joint venture
between the Parish Council and the Meridian Magazine and
we aim to develop the site to cover a wide range of
interests.
One of the problems with many websites is that they are
set up with great enthusiasm but fail on the continued
maintenance required to update the pages. To hopefully
overcome this, areas of the site will be allocated to different
groups, who will then be responsible for
loading and maintaining their own content. For example,
the Parish Council, Memorial Hall, Meridian Magazine and
Camera Club areas will all be maintained by separate
people. There will be a small charge for hosting each
area and we have written up some terms and conditions to
require that the content is reasonably maintained and is
legal and decent. This should ensure that the site
remains current and active. We have registered the site
with the Parish Council as this is a stable
organization, is always here in the village, and will
have the authority to appoint someone to act as
webmaster.
My name is Alan Morris and I volunteered to act as
Webmaster for the first year and after offering my resigination at the end of each full year I have been asked by the Parish Council and the Meridian Magazine committee to continue for a further term. I have lived in the village for over 25 years and for the last four years have been involved with the Meridian Magazine, setting out the articles and adverts and with my limited artistic abilities, doing my best to produce the front cover artwork. This website has been an interesting project and is my first attempt at web design. I have tried to keep the design simple and concentrated on the quality of the content rather than putting in lots of 'flashy' gimmicks. There is still much to do and I have obtained all of the previous 96 issues of the Swavesey Meridian Magazine and intend to archive any interesting articles on this website.
This website and the Meridian Magazine are created by
voluntary unpaid effort and offers of assistance are
always welcome.
Please add this website to your favorites and log on
again soon to view the growing content.
