A freephone road tax enforcement
DVLA hotline, 08000 325 202, was launched on 3rd February
in Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire for members of the
public to ring and report untaxed vehicles - this is
DVLA's latest enforcement weapon!
Dedicated teams of investigators
will be responding to tip-offs from the public to detect
road tax cheats red-handed and to clamp them. The release
fee is £200 within 24 hours or they will be impounded.
The fee rises to £280 plus £15 per day storage.
If they have not been reclaimed within 14 days,
they will then be crushed.
It is estimated that there are 25,000
unlicensed vehicles in Cambridgeshire alone. In
addition to the clamping units which begin work on 16th
February, Stingray camera units will also be in operation.
