Constables Rood

An area of land on the corner of Mow Fen Drove and Hale Road under construction as a nature reserve and will provide gravel paths, seating and plants to attract a variety of wildlife. More...


Village Green

This area is primarily used for Football and a pavilion is used to store equipment and has changing rooms. There is a landscaped area at the far end and bench seating is provided around the green. An extensive Play Area is also provided.


Play Areas

There are two play areas in the village. A small one in Cherry Trees and a fully equipped one on the Green. The existing one on the Green was completely replaced with new equipment and re-opened in October 2005.


Swavesey Village College

Courses in sporting and leisure activities are available at the College and several  clubs open to adults as well as children are based there. More...

The Fen Drayton Lakes

This is a large area alongside the river Great Ouse and consists of  fenland and lakes created when the gravel extraction pits where landscaped. It is a RSPB reserve, however access is free and dogs are permitted but it is requested that they are kept on the lead is some areas. There are regular guided walks around the area. Footpaths & Bridleways

The village has an extensive network of footpaths and droves and we are on the route of the annual Pathfinder Walk. The 11th event will take place on Monday 25th August 2006 More...

If the Guided Busway is built, there will be a maintenance roadway passing through the village and it is proposed this will be available for horses, cyclists and pedestrians.


Cycleway Route 51

The SUSTRANS national cycle route 51 passes through Swavesey. This cycle route is still under construction and when completed will run from Colchester via Harwich, Felixstowe, Bury-St-Edmunds, Cambridge, Huntingdon, Bedford and Milton Keynes ending at Oxford.
Some sections of this route are now complete and the completed section between Cambridge and Huntingdon passes through Swavesey along School Lane, Middle Watch and Ramper Road.
