By the time you read this we shall be in the middle of the summer holidays. Wait a minute? Did I say summer ... so far it seems to have been a bit of a damp squib, but perhaps if you know where it is could you tell the rest of us? Thanks to those of you who volunteered to join our team of distributors, it is very much appreciated. However we still need help with production, in two very important areas: 1. Scanning. We need one or two people to help with scanning items for inclusion in the magazine so that all the work does not fall on one person all the time. If you have a scanner and feel you could help please get in touch. 2. Layout. If we do not get some help with this then the continued production of "The Meridian" is threatened. We had to pay to have the layout done for this edition, but cannot afford to do this every time and still provide it free to every household in Swavesey. You will need to have some knowledge of Desktop Publishing but help will be on hand, we would not expect you to do it totally single-handed! Please get in touch with April or Naomi to find out more. The DEADLINE for the Oct./Nov. edition is 25th August, so if you want to advertise those Autumn fairs, Halloween events, Bonfire night or early Christmas Fairs then please get your copy to the editor in time. One of the Meridian's new production team has had to step down, so we are once againin need of a volunteer to help with production. If you have some experience of using publishing or page layout software, this is an opportunity to gain more experience while helping your village magazine. Commitment: about two days' work per issue, alternate months.
