Whilst the refurbishments were being carried out on the Memorial Hall, it was decided to meet just monthly during the spring and summer.

The ladies of the Meridian Women's Club have had some enjoyable trips out. In March it was an interesting outing to the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge. April found us at The Lakeside Lodge, Pidley for a hilarious evening of Ten Pin Bowling, followed by a delicious meal. A fine evening in May we went to play outdoor bowls at Fenstanton Bowls Club where we received a warm welcome from the members.

To celebrate our 12th Birthday in June this year, The White Horse, Swavesey did us proud with a lovely Barbecue held in glorious sunshine in their Pub garden. One of our original members, Jean Smye, baked a scrumptious strawberry cake and all agreed that it was one of the best we had tasted.

At the time of going to press we will have embarked on our popular Treasure Hunt in July and then it is our summer shut-down.

We meet again for a shopping trip on Saturday 28th September to Blue Water, Kent to which all are welcome. Please look out for details in local shops and contact Janet our Social Secretary, on 01954 270426 if you are interested in booking a seat on the coach.

We then hope to resume our usual fortnightly meetings at 8.00pm in the newly fitted out Memorial Hall from Wednesday, 9th October 2002. We are a friendly bunch and newcomers are always welcome to share in our entertainments, followed by a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits, and a raffle.
