Swavesey Primary School Report
School Council meet Andrew Lansley M.P. On Friday 23 May Andrew Lansley our local M.P. visited us. Here is part of his interview with the School Council:

Q Where were you brought up?
A I was brought up in Hornchurch in Essex, and I attended The Suttons Primary School next to Sutton Farm.

Q Where did you work before you became an M.P?
A I studied politics at Exeter University and then I became a Civil Servant.

Q How many weeks each year do you work and what is your pay?
A Around 47 or 48 weeks a year. My salary is about £56,000 a year as an M.P.

Q Have you ever met the Queen or the Prime Minister?
A I have met Tony Blair briefly, but I knew past Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and John Major better. I had the pleasure of meeting Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth once.

Q How long have you been an M.P. and what is best about your job?
A For about 6 years now. I enjoy making, and thinking through hard issues.

Q Have you got a family and do you see much of them?
A Yes, my wife and I have a young baby Martha, who is 11 weeks old. I have two older daughters from my first marriage. I see a lot of them when I am at home.

The Three Counties Horn Quartet entertained Junior pupils prior to their concert at St Andrew's Church on 6th June.

The PTA Summer Fayre raised nearly £2000. It was a fantastic afternoon thanks to the huge efforts of the PTA committee. Thanks also to all the parents and staff who came along on the day to help run a stall or spend lots of money!!!

This is our Kwik Cricket A Team who played in the BBC Sport Kwik Cricket competition at Longstanton Cricket Club on 11 June. They won a mini-competition finishing top from 5 teams. They play in the County finals at Clare College Sports Ground on 1st July.
