So the new cycle path is finished and let us hope it will make things a bit safer for all who cycle between Swavesey and Over. That road seems to be getting busier and busier, I suppose as we try to avoid the horrors of the A14. Mind you if we do get the Guided Bus then this is going to throw a bit of a spanner in the works as it will hold up the traffic and the cycles every time it needs to cross the road! Looks a bit like "heads I win tails you lose" to me. There has been a lot of concern about vandalism in the village and this always seems to increase when we have long summer evenings. Once upon a time we used to have a Youth Centre, OK so not all the youngsters used it but at least it was somewhere, now they either have to go to Over Community Centre or just "hang around" in groups which looks a bit intimidating to people. We are having a big campaign in the village to provide play facilities for the younger children but should we not also be looking at where these children will go when they grow up and become teenagers? There must be some way we can provide them with a place to meet and be with their friends. If anyone has any ideas then maybe they could talk to the Parish Council or try to find like minded people through the pages/website of this magazine. Come on Swavesey let's see what we can do!
Copy for the October/November edition should be sent by 25th August, direct to alan.morris2@ntlworld.com or through his letterbox at 12 Taylors Lane.
