August- the time of year for the annual holiday for many families, a few days to relax, switch off and forget about work! But if you are not going away this year? No need to worry about finding things for the children to do, there is plenty on offer in Swavesey.
Sports, performing arts, OWLS holiday club, reading your way through the books in Your Library, working off surplus energy in the superb play area on the Green. We are fortunate in having such a wide range of activities and I am sure I have forgotten some! However you spend your summer holidays enjoy them.

And in case you need something to do………
Deadline for the October/November edition is 23rd AUGUST so let us know about those Autumn fairs, Firework displays, and early Xmas fairs. Don’t forget posters can be displayed in full colour on our website at www.swavesey.org.uk!

EDITORIAL
FRONT COVER
This issues Front Cover is a photograph taken by Peter Martin. It shows Rose Cottage in Black Horse Lane just after the new thatch was completed. A real “English Country Cottage” Our thanks to the owners for allowing us to use it and for supplying us with some brief historical facts about the cottage detailed on page 18.
OOPS!
(An Apology!)

In the last issue (June/July) we published a letter which was not intended for publication! Apologies to all concerned and to anyone who read it and was confused. However mistakes sometimes do happen, we are not infallible.
Please help us to avoid this happening in future by making it clear when you send us information whether it is intended just as background information to forewarn us of an event that will be happening later so the editorial team can look out for it, or if it is for general publication. Thanks
