ONE TOLD THE BEES THAT THEY SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO FLY!
We recently read an article about a scientist who had studied bees for years. He calculated the weight of each bee and then measured their height and width of each wingspan, before he started on his analyses. Weeks became months and months became years as he tried to work our how they could fly. Finally, he decided that with the weight and shape of the bee, and the form of its wings, it was impossible for it to fly, so he concluded that 'Bees do the impossible!' God does this! He does the impossible…. And yes He also makes the bees! Christians haven't got all the answers, but that doesn't mean that their faith is invalid. God is sometimes mysterious and we do not know everything, indeed a bit like the scientist and the bees. But for many Christians they know what they see in their own life as God at work. The trouble is believing in bits and leaving the other pieces out, means that people don't see the impossible - God at work in the world today. To be fair the scientist in the story we read about knew that bees could fly - he'd watched them for years! But the point is that what we know isn't everything. At Christmas time Christian churches sing carols, which acknowledge God: Emmanuel. This word means God who is with us.
