Your Library is now open for business and
operates out of the Common room within Swavesey Village
College.
It's open every:-
Tuesday
15.30 to 17.30
Wednesday
18.00 to 20.00
Thursday
15.30 to 17.30
By the time you read this we will have had the official
opening, when Dr Neil Cross, Chairman of the Royal
Society Of Arts declared Your Library Open.
I hope you all managed to attend, but if you didn't then
why not pop along next time it's open and see what we
have to offer, meet our enthusiastic team of volunteers,
borrow a few books and browse the Internet, all in a
quiet and friendly atmosphere.
I am sure the Admin committee will all agree with me
when I say it's been hard work over the past couple of
months getting Your Library up and running, but we did
it ! A great sense of pride and achievement after all
the obstacles we had to overcome to regain this valuable
asset within the village. A facility which I am sure you
will all agree should never have been lost in the first
place. Politics !!
Well we've done our bit getting Your Library
up and running, it's now down to you to show your
support by using it.
Remember Your Library offers you the chance to :-
-
Join the library
-
Take out books using your Cambook card
-
Request / order books (remember children's requests
are free!)
-
Take out up to 12 books at any one time
-
Keep them for up to 3 weeks
-
Access the Internet
-
Use a variety of CD ROMS
-
Study the local information files
-
Buy second hand books
-
All in a friendly atmosphere
CCC have provided Your Library with a stock of new
books, (a mix of Adult fiction & large print,
Teenage and Children's books), I know this selection
will not suit all tastes, but don't just say “there's
nothing here for me”, please give our band of volunteers
comments on the types of books you like best and as we
add to the CCC stock with locally donated and purchased
books and tapes, we will keep our eyes open for your
favourite authors to give you the widest choice
possible.
It is worth a reminder here to say that as a voluntary
run library
We need your assistance to flourish .
Do you have a couple of hours a month to
spare?
If so, then why not volunteer to assist in the
running of Your Library, (a rewarding task which is not
difficult, full training will be given)
The more volunteers we get the less we all need to
do.
Anyone who can offer assistance would be most
appreciated, please contact either Verity Ladds or Peter
Looper.
We rely on your donations, income from fines, charges
and book sales to cover running costs and purchase new
books.
Donations of good quality Children's, Teenager's and
Adult books and tapes would be most welcome for
inclusion in Your Library or for sale, to generate funds
to cover running costs.
(Contact Richard on 202707 or drop them into the
collection box in the library)
Thanks must go to the admin committee, who have given up
numerous hours of there own time over the past few
months to make Your Library a reality and to all those
who have volunteered to run Your Library. It's thanks to
these individuals that you have the chance to continue
to enjoy a library in Swavesey.
This is Your Library and to succeed it needs
your support.

I love books
I was a bit sad that the old library closed because I
love to read books and having the library open was
really handy. But now that “Your Library” has opened I'm
quite happy. I have more books!
In the library we have the internet, which is very
useful for homework, which I have, quite a lot of, but
it is also good fun to play on the games. Here are a few
websites of which I have used quite often because of the
games. I'm sure you will recognize them:
www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc,
www.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews
and
www.bubblegumclub.com
Also in the library there are lots of really interesting
books and a good selection. They are new and different
from the selection in the old library. Which is really
good!
Have you got any children's and teenage books that you
have finished with and are in good quality?
Well, if you do then bring them in and give them to a
nice member of the staff and then we can all read them!
