Anniversary Meeting

Our first Anniversary Meeting was held on Wednesday 13th October 2004 at the library in SVC. Here Verity Ladds our Chairperson thanked everyone for taking the time to attend this important meeting, she then went on to give a detailed report on the fantastic progress of Your Library over it's first year of operation, (which I am sure you all should be aware of by now with our regular Meridian magazine articles) and our plans for the future. In addition were heard short reports from the treasurer, secretary and volunteers organizer. Following this all existing committee members were returned for the forthcoming year.

A very big thanks must go out to everyone, the Admin committee, Volunteers, SVC and the users of Your Library, for all their hard work in making this village facility a success.

Once the official proceedings were over Geoff Green gave us a very informative and interesting talk on the build up of a book. How they are constructed, the differences between paperbacks and hardbacks, all the component parts of a book, interspersed with numerous antidotes. Many of you will have heard the phase "book worm", but do you know where it originates from ?, No, it's not your sister who won't take here head out of a book, but a small worm that ate it's way into a book. Have you seen the results of a book worm at work ?. Have you smelt the aroma of a leather bound manuscript? well - all of us at this meeting did. Many thanks Geoff, a most interesting talk.
