 Progress So Far - 12th June 2007

The sub-committee groups have started to work through the processes leading to first of all consultation with the various societies, churches, businesses etc to obtain their ideas for the future requirements of Swavesey. There will be a questionnaire created and distributed to every household, possibly early next year, for each of you to have your say on the requirements for the village.

At the second meeting the following officials were appointed:-
Nick Dennis - Chairman
John Pook - Secretary
Derek Rata - Treasurer

Three sub-committee groups were identified:

  1. Document Group - A group to look at other parish plans and consider what our plan should contain and how it should be put together.
  2. Village Profile Group -  To gather information about the make up of the village from census information and elsewhere including transport, access, working patterns, education, leisure, sport etc. The result to enable a profile of the village to be included in the plan.
  3. Consultation Group - To contact and consult with the various organisations, businesses, clubs, etc in the village.

20th February 2007

The first meeting of the residents interested in forming a committee was held on the 20th February 2007. It was very well attended with a diverse cross section of the community represented. Any sectors of the community not represented will be identified and approached for their views.

The next task is to record the abilities of each member so that various tasks can be allocated and a chairperson and treasurer appointed at the next meeting on the 20th March.

Meeting held on 5th February

A packed Memorial Hall saw a very successful introduction to the Parish Plan project on 5th February.  Approximately 90 residents attended to hear what a Parish Plan is and how it can benefit our community.

The next stage is to form a Steering Committee to take on the project.  Around 15 contact names were collected from residents interested in being involved.  The first Steering Group meeting has now been arranged for Tuesday evening 20th February.  If you weren't able to attend the meeting on 5th Feb and would like to be involved, then please get in touch. Everyone is welcome.

Public Meeting - Mon 5th Feb 2007

On Monday 5th February 2007 the Parish Council will be launching a project to produce a Parish Plan for Swavesey.  You might have heard of these before, if not the information in the links on the left of this page will give you more details about what a parish plan is and how it can benefit residents of the village.

The project should involve the entire community, individual residents as well as village clubs and organisations.  The parish plan is an ideal opportunity to consult widely with the community about all aspects of village life and its future development.  The final document and action plan can provide for more informed decisions by local authorities and service providers and can also open up opportunities for grant funding for community clubs and projects.

The Parish Council is seeking the support of everyone within Swavesey for this important project and would like to invite you to come along to the public meeting to set up the Parish Plan Steering Committee. Parish Plans are being produced by communities thoughout the country and to-date over 3000 communities have and are producing a parish plan.

A Parish Plan is produced by an independent Steering Committee, independent of the Parish Council.  The Parish Council applies for an administration grant on behalf of the Steering Committee, to cover all of the costs of producing the plan.  The final document and action plan are then presented by the Steering Committee to the Parish Council for adoption.  It is also sent to the District Council to be included within their Community Strategy policy.
