For two weeks in early January, the Parish Council had the loan of a speed sign from the A14 Team. Installed on a lamp column in Boxworth End it collected speed and vehicle numbers of traffic entering the village. A summary of the data collected, together with headline speed data can be found here: Speed Sign Trail – Summary of Analysed data – Jan 2018
Swavesey together with 7 other neighbouring villages had the speed sign to find out what data it could collect and to assess whether it would be helpful to either jointly purchase or have on a rolling loan, to use in various locations around our villages, to make drivers more aware of speed and to collect data for Parish Councils.
Your Parish Council is now discussing with the A14 Team how we can use this equipment into the future, either to install for a few weeks at a time in different locations or for use by village Speedwatch Teams.
