Family, friends and acquaintances will be saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Frank Dodson on 1st January 1993.
Frank was born on 14th April 1913 at Highfield Farm Swavesey. He attended the local school which was then situated on the corner of School Lanef Swavesey. Leaving at 14 he went to work tor Mr. Canham who ran a grocery shop in the High Street where Foxglove Furniture is now situated. For his labours he was paid the sum of 7/6 per week, of which 5/- went to his mother and 2/6 he kept for himself.
Several years later he was called up by the army where he spent six years. During the war he went to places as far afield as Norway and Orkney.

After the war he came home and was lucky enough to get a job with the local postmaster, Mr. Lee, (Alan Lee's father) as a postman. During this time he became well known for his kindnesses of running errands and generally helping the local community. He finally retired from this job with the post office in 1971. The accompanying photograph was taken to celebrate his long service of 25 years with the post office.
When Frank and Hilda married in 1936 they lived on 30/~ per week. They were lucky enough to enjoyed 56 wonderful and happy years together. They moved to Over in 1981, living close by their daughter Gillian and son-in-law Richard Law and grandchildren Mark and Melanie.
